Cultural Background - Native Americans

1. This bead work is well known for its beauty.

2. The key concept we will be using for this lesson is learning how to create the bead looms.

3.  This bead loom design is based on "Four-Fold Symmetry".

4. The four types of images all have in common the reflection symmetry.

5. Embroidery, Plains Indians & Shoshone Beadwork & Pawnee Buffalo Hide Drum & Navajo rug.

6. Reflection symmetry is when the left side is mirror to the right side.

7. An example of base four counting in Native American cultures are teepees.

8. Four-fold symmetry #3 is commonly used for Navajo sand painting. An example is healing ceremonies used by the medicine man.

9. Four-fold symmetry #4 is an example of coordinate graph and is used by Eskimos to measure vertical and horizontal distance between a certain distance.

10. Four-fold symmetry #5 is shown as rows and columns. It is a type Cartesian coordinate system.

11. Native American Beadwork was created before the Europeans arrived to America.

12. One example of how these designs were used is to create Wampum beads. Another example was being able to see the carbon atoms under a microscope, which is similar to the Beadwork.

Scavenger Hunt

During the scavenger hunt, one strength I had at conducting searches was knowing how to search to find an answer to a question. One way I need improvement is using other searching websites other than Google. Another way I need to improve is by learning how to find information about the school on Edline.

Computer Project Reflection

I liked a few of the areas that we focused on during the project. One things I liked most about this computer project was finding the differences between the two computers, Dell and Macbook. Another area I liked about this project was finding the different costs of the computers. One challenge from the project was that we could not find some of the terms for the computers.
