Debug-it week 1 reflection

One debugging strategy that I used was to delete all the blocks they had and started over myself. I would also help someone else during this project by helping them understand how each block would work and understand that positioning the blocks are important to the scratch.

Debug-it 1.5 Solution

Debug-It 1.5 Solution

10 blocks Challenge

This project helped my learn scratch to teach myself how to use each of these 10 blocks. These 10 blocks restraint my impact on my ideas because it limited the blocks to only 10.

Try it Out

This "Try it Out" scratch was surprisingly a little bit difficult. I felt like it was easier to be led step-by-step through the activity during the first scratch activity. I would enjoy to have more structure after I learn more of the basic steps of the scratch. Also more freedom would come in handy when I feel completely comfortable with the whole system of scratch. Finally I feel most creative when I am able to pick my own scratch activity to create.

HTML Intro

3 things I want to learn:
1. How to do a border
2. How to add images
3. How to attach links to my website

2 things I learned about HTML:
1. I learned the code of the HTML
2. I learned all the things I can do with HTML

1 thing I am concerned about:
1. I am concerned about not being able to attach my other links to my main website

New Binary Code

My new binary code system is using shapes. For each card has a different shape, for example for a card that would have one dot has a circle. Here are the shapes for each card...
1 = circle
2 = square
4 = rectangle
8 = triangle
16 = octagon
32 = hexagon

For example, if you were trying to get 12 as a total it would be

Why do Computers Use Binary

While watching this video, I have learned several new things. One new thing I have learned was that the way the sound goes through your headphones is called analog signal. Another thing I learned was that the binary method numbers are called "Base-n Numerals". Lastly I had learned this system helps computers in multiple ways. One thing I don't really understand is how quickly people do this activity. Another thing I don't really understand is how you can do large numbers in this binary system. One thing I would like to know more about is why this system was created.

Binary

1. The highest level I go to on the Binary game was 4.
2. The hardest part of the Binary game was when u had to add all the large numbers together to find out what the number represented was.
3. I do not mind the binary number to count with.
4. I could use my five fingers to count with by each finger being one digit.
5. The connection with how the Binary system is used with computers is by using a different method of math to manage the technique.

Google Boys video

1. The two man operation changed into a profitable large corporation by over time having investors that gave them money to make the company bigger and better.
2. Two challenges Google faced were other companies trying to make search engines also and almost got sued by a company.
3. Their key to being ahead and staying ahead of all their competition was their speed.
4. They all found their information by an invention called "google bot" which gathered all their information for fast searches every time a website was updated.

Eliza

1. I do not find Eliza "human-like" at all. She is nothing like a human, she is a computer.

2. By making her more human we could have a real person answer the common questions asked by people using this device. Someone could be answering for her instead of a computer answering.

3. I do not expect anything from a computer to be a therapist. Computers do not have emotions because they are not a real life person.

4. Yes I believe that in the future someone will create a device that could be more "human-like" for this therapist on a computer.

Graffiti culture

The different type of culture I chose to learn about was the Graffiti culture. This is one of the four types of elements of Hip-Hop. It is also a form of art, and it expresses cultural meaning. Graffiti is easily misunderstood and can be illegal to do. This came into New York during the year of the 1960s. Then in the 1970s there began to be something called "Style Wars", which were when graffiti artists had competitions to see who was bigger and better. The trend still exists to this day, and is a major part of the urban environment. Graffiti is an important and powerful form of art that has been spread over the years and all over the world.

Cultural Background - Native Americans

1. This bead work is well known for its beauty.

2. The key concept we will be using for this lesson is learning how to create the bead looms.

3.  This bead loom design is based on "Four-Fold Symmetry".

4. The four types of images all have in common the reflection symmetry.

5. Embroidery, Plains Indians & Shoshone Beadwork & Pawnee Buffalo Hide Drum & Navajo rug.

6. Reflection symmetry is when the left side is mirror to the right side.

7. An example of base four counting in Native American cultures are teepees.

8. Four-fold symmetry #3 is commonly used for Navajo sand painting. An example is healing ceremonies used by the medicine man.

9. Four-fold symmetry #4 is an example of coordinate graph and is used by Eskimos to measure vertical and horizontal distance between a certain distance.

10. Four-fold symmetry #5 is shown as rows and columns. It is a type Cartesian coordinate system.

11. Native American Beadwork was created before the Europeans arrived to America.

12. One example of how these designs were used is to create Wampum beads. Another example was being able to see the carbon atoms under a microscope, which is similar to the Beadwork.

Scavenger Hunt

During the scavenger hunt, one strength I had at conducting searches was knowing how to search to find an answer to a question. One way I need improvement is using other searching websites other than Google. Another way I need to improve is by learning how to find information about the school on Edline.

Computer Project Reflection

I liked a few of the areas that we focused on during the project. One things I liked most about this computer project was finding the differences between the two computers, Dell and Macbook. Another area I liked about this project was finding the different costs of the computers. One challenge from the project was that we could not find some of the terms for the computers.
